Weather Data exchange September 2017

September Weather Data from Bill Arthur, South Perth County

My records calculate HU's from May 10 to Sept 20 so this indicates 100 HU's
more than average but since much/most corn was planted later this year it is
missing from 1-300 HU this year.

What has allowed corn to mature has been the heat we had the last 20 days of
September so corn has received 3176 minus 1-300Hu and it has all had the full
average I get here of 2835 and with no frost so far it is continuing to dry down.

3rd and 4th cutting of hay was taken the first week in September so forage
supplies should be good in this area.

Most edible beans have been harvested or will be in the next few days and much
of the soybean crop is off with about average yields of both.

Winter wheat has been getting planted as soon as beans come off into ideal or
perhaps dry conditions and lots of fields are starting to show green now.

Only 75% of normal rainfall and it all came in the first 8 days of September so
fields have been dry for harvesting beans and silage but little silage off by the
end of September but lots in the first few days of October.

Indications are silage yields are good and so grain will likely be good too.
